Neuwirth Named Head Tennis Coach

MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary University Athletic Department named Allen Neuwirth the next head coach for the Blue Angels tennis program.

"We are very excited to add Coach Neuwirth to our tennis staff." Mount Mary University Director of Athletics Marc Heidorf added, "Throughout the search process, Allen distinguished himself as someone that would have the technical knowledge, motivation, and time necessary to continue and build upon the recent success of our Blue Angel program."

Coach Neuwirth most recently worked with both the Brookfield Central High School boys tennis program and as a tennis instructor at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.

"I admire Mount Mary's priority for academic excellence, and appreciation for the part athletics play in the total development of students." New Head Tennis Coach Allen Neuwirth added, "A skilled and dedicated coaching staff can make a big difference in the players' lives, but the student-athletes are the ones who play the game."

Coach Neuwirth is already active organizing a coaching staff and beginning the groundwork for the next recruiting class.

As a new NCAA head coach, Neuwirth is ready for the year to begin, "There is nothing like NCAA Division III competition to bring out the best in the hearts of champions. It is our intention to motivate and inspire each student-athlete to achieve her maximum potential. It will take a lot of very hard work, and a good deal of tenacity, but it can be done."

Following two record setting seasons for Blue Angels tennis in 2013 & 2014, MMU went 1-11 in 2015. MMU tennis joined the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference as affiliate members for the first time in 2015, and after a year of acclimation to the conference, expect to regain their winning ways in 2016.

The season is right around the corner, and the official schedule for next year will be finalized shortly. Stay tuned to mtmaryathletics.com for scheduling updates and team news.
