Week 3

Mount Mary University, along with many campus across the country, return to the classroom today following winter break. As the hallways begin to flow with students the morning after Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the student-athletes gear up for more action.

The Blue Angels (3-7) hit the court this Sunday as they take on Robert Morris University Peoria (1-8). This weekend's contest against the Eagles marks the first ever game between the two schools.

Following the Blue Angels win over Silver Lake College (9-6) last Friday, junior forward Becky Onan (Grafton, Wis.) is now 14th in the Association of Division III Independents in rebounds per game with 7.2. Onan ripped down 12 rebounds against the Lakers in her second consecutive game with a double-double.

Seniors Jess Runge (Freedom, Wis.) and Ariel Oviedo (Shawano, Wis.) have picked up their offense in the recent surge. Runge went 10-of-10 with 24 points against RMU Peoria's sister school RMU Springfield (0-12), then scored 10 points along with seven assists against the Lakers. Oviedo scored 11 and 17 respectively against the Eagles and SLC. That offense has led the Blue Angels to an impressive 3-0 when scoring 75 or more points in a contest in 2016-17.

The Blue Angels game on Sunday will be the final home contest before MMU hits the road for four straight away games. Sunday's game will have live video and stats available at mtmaryathletics.com.
