Runge Decorated Again

Runge Decorated Again

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – For the third time this season, Jess Runge (Sr./Freedom, Wis.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents women's basketball Player of the Week. In the penultimate game of the season, the senior guard had another career night leading Mount Mary University (7-12) to another win.

Runge, who averaged 8.1 points in 2015-16, has led the Blue Angels offense nearly constantly in the second half of the 2016-17 season. Tying her NCAA high in single game scoring three times since January, Runge most recently upped her record by eight points against Andrews University (4-16) after the senior shot 12-of-19 from the field, 4-of-4 from the free throw line and 5-of-8 from beyond the 3-point line on her way to 33 points.

On the defensive side of the court, Runge grabbed five steals and pulled down seven rebounds for her team. The career night for Runge came on Senior Night at the Bloechl Center.

A fitting end to the Bloechl Center career from Runge. If you missed the game, check it out here and see the photo gallery at mtmaryathletics.com.
