Week 6

Soccer

The Blue Angels will end their five game homestand this week as they play host to Robert Morris-Lake County, then hit the road to play Lincoln Christian.

Last year the Blue Angels took both games in the season series with the Eagles. The first victory against Robert Morris-Lake County was the biggest win margin in over three seasons. The Eagles have yet to play a game this season.

Next is a rematch against Lincoln Christian (4-5). The Red Lions defeated MMU 11-1 and Abigail Crocket led LCU with eight goals herself. Following that big win, the Red Lions immediately lost 11-1 to Stephens College, then fell again in a rematch to Stephens 6-2.

Volleyball

A big weekend ahead for the Blue Angels volleyball team. MMU will head to Hancock, Mich. to play four matches in two days.

First will be against familiar foe Grace Bible. The Tigers most recently defeated the Blue Angels 3-1 at the IIT Triangular. The Blue Angels pushed each set deep, scoring 20-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-20, but could not come up with the win.

Next is North Central (Minn.) who sits at 6-11 on the season. The Rams loss to Emmaus 3-1, a team MMU defeated 3-1, and the Rams split with Crown; MMU lost to Crown 3-0. Before this weekend, the last time these teams faced each other was 2013, when the Rams won 3-0.

Then the Blue Angels will start day two of the tournament against Gogebic Community College. A team out of NJCAA DII which has no common opponents on the season.

Then it is time to wrap things up against host Finlandia University. The Lions come into the week at 8-15 and have some impressive wins over Alverno and Silver Lake. Even though the consistency is not there, the Lions have played had some impressive wins this year.

Cross Country

Next stop for the Blue Angels cross country team is Kenosha, Wis. where MMU will face off against NCAA DI, DII and DIII talent.

Last season the Blue Angels did not qualify enough runners in the Lucian Rosa Invite due to injury even though Natalie Guyette (Jr./Shiocton, Wis.) and Danielle Sherrer (Sr./Milwaukee, Wis.) turned in some of their season’s best times.

This year the deep roster has kept the Blue Angels competitive against some of the region’s top talent. All the while the addition of Jori Galles (So./Waukesha, Wis.) and Christina Ishaq (Fr./Milwaukee, Wis.) has turned in some incredible results like a second and sixth team finish.
