MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary softball team celebrated Good Friday with a mid-morning double-header against Milwaukee-area foe Cardinal Stritch University. Though this Friday in particular wasn't so good for the Blue Angels, who lost 14-0, 22-0 in a pair of five-inning games.

Mount Mary (3-25) managed just five hits on the day while being shutout for the fourth two-game series this season.

Sophomore Tracy Boutell (Brown Deer, Wis.) had a spectacular day on both sides of the ball. At the plate, she went went 2-for-3, tallying two hard-hit singles to left field. In the field, she was busy with six assists and three put-outs in the two-game series.

Senior Katie Wolk (Oshkosh, Wis.), junior Katie Edwards (Mackinaw, Ill.) and sophomore Nicole Weggen (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) each tallied a hit as well, but the Angels couldn't string enough together to push across a run.

Mount Mary played some solid defense to begin game one, giving up just one run in each of the first two innings. In the top of the third, Cardinal Stritch (28-19) got to MMU hurler Edwards, racking up five hits to go with a Blue Angel error to post a 6-run inning.

Stritch went 1-2-3 in the fourth inning, clinging to its 8-0 lead before posting another 6-run outburst in the top of the fifth to put the game away.

The Wolves continued to pour it on in game two, tallying 18 hits and six walks in a 22-0 pasting.

Freshman Lauren Wiech (Colgate, Wis.) recorded the loss in game two, falling to 2-9 in the circle this season.

Friday's matchup at Kulwicki Field was just the second home double-header of the season due to inclement weather and opponents' need to work in their respective conference schedules.

The Blue Angels will be back in action Wednesday when they travel downtown to play Milwaukee School of Engineering for a double-header slated to start at 3:30 p.m. Mount Mary will finish up its home schedule with a twinbill next Friday against Maranatha Baptist University in a 3 p.m. start.
