Preview Wisconsin Lutheran College vs MMU

MILWAUKEE – Today at the familiar Neumann Family Softball Field the Mount Mary University softball team will take on their host Wisconsin Lutheran College (8-14) in a pre-Easter doubleheader. The Blue Angels (6-16) head to the friendly confines looking to nip away at the lead the Warriors have in the all-time series: 7-1. First pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 12:00 pm.

Although in a four-game skid, the Blue Angels bats have been productive despite not getting the victories. The resiliency of MMU shined through in their doubleheader against Lakeland (11-15) when the Blue Angels came back in game two to post six runs off 11 hits. That late surge has MMU hitting .319 as a team with a .420 slugging percentage.

Blue Angel First Basemen Sidnee Turnage (Fr./Hesperia, Calif.) captured three of those 11 hits against the Muskies as the freshman weathered the dry-spell. Teammate Lisa George (Fr./Naches, Wash.) got her offense going in that game as well recording her first homerun of the season on her three-run bomb.

Pacing he Warriors offense in the lead-off position, senior Kaitlyn Robison is hitting .436. All of her hits this season are singles, but the senior leads in that category as well with 34 hits overall this year.

WLC is a proponent of "small ball" and spreads out their offense across the roster. The team is hitting .310 on the year. Three of the Warriors have 10 or more RBIs on the season, however, the team's slugging percentage is standing at .368.

In the circle, the Warriors have the edge as their pitching staff has accumulated a 4.12 ERA. MMU has a team WHIP of 2.16, and an ERA of 7.50 on the season, but the pitching staff has netted 11 complete games as the hurlers work their way through starts.
