Perry Clark Next MMU Head Softball Coach

MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary University Athletic Department has announced that effective immediately, Perry Clark will be the next head softball coach for the Blue Angels. The new addition to MMU Athletics brings decades of college coaching experience to a team that set multiple school records this last spring.

"Perry's experience both on the field and on the recruiting trail make him the ideal person to build upon Mount Mary softball's now solid foundation," said Mount Mary Director of Athletics Marc Heidorf. "He is eager to take on this new challenge and has already hit the ground running."

Along with being the co-founder and CEO of Northern Illinois Thunder Softball for 18 years, coach Clark has been coaching with the Waubonsee Community College softball team in the NJCAA since 1997. Starting as an associate coach Perry Clark quickly worked his way to head coach at WCC. Once at the helm, coach Clark accumulated a record of 350-232.

During his tenure at WCC, coach Clark earned eight Illinois Skyway Conference Coach of the Year awards, Region IV Coach of the Year and was selected to coach in the Region IV All-Star game on two separate occasions.

Coach Clark and the WCC Chiefs also earned 10 conference championships, made 19 Region IV tournament appearances with five of those appearances bringing WCC to the respective regional championship.

A slight culture change to the progressing Blue Angels softball program, coach Clark was drawn to MMU by "…the rich academic history and catholic affiliation." New Mount Mary Head Softball Coach Perry Clark added "The opportunity to create a D-III softball powerhouse was the athletic attraction."

Along with multiple community activities, coach Clark is an active member at the St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church as a high school religious educator and as a member of the pastoral council.

Coach Clark will bring his decades of coaching and recruiting experience to the Blue Angels softball program that reached new heights in 2016-17, when the team set multiple school records including most wins in a season (14).

Taking his first steps as the MMU Head Softball Coach immediately, Perry Clark is focused on "…[establishing] a winning attitude. A team that believes they can win will never lose regardless of the score."
