MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary University women's basketball team will host the Silver Lake College Lakers tonight, Fri. Jan. 14, at 6:00 pm. The Lakers (9-5) are coming off a 7-point loss to Northland College in Manitowoc, Wis. this last Tuesday.

The Blue Angels are 2-7 on the 2016-17 season. To this point in the season, MMU is shooting 36.8 percent from the field as a team, 25.4 percent from 3-point territory and 63.5 as a team from the free throw line.

Coming back from four games off, Blue Angel Jess Runge (Sr./Freedom, Wis.) has helped steer that offense shooting a team high 57.9 field goal percentage. The senior guard's offensive prowess was demonstrated most blatantly in her last contest where Runge made 10-of-10 from the field on her way to her highest scoring game in an NCAA contest (24 points).

The defense the Blue Angels put on the court each night averages 9.2 steals per game and 3.0 blocks. Becky Onan (Jr./Grafton, Wis.) routinely leads the Blue Angels on the backend of the court with a team high 1.3 blocks per game and 2.2 steals per game. Onan's defense has her ranked fifth in the Association of Division III Independents in blocks per game and eighth in steals per game.

So far for the Lakers, the team is averaging 66.9 points per game with a 39.2 field goal percentage, 31.0 3-point percentage and 59.4 free throw percentage.

Although the Lakers may average 16.4 turnovers per game, SLC's fluidity on offense translates to 16.7 assists per game and 13.3 offensive rebounds per game.

Swiping 14.3 steals per game, the Lakers defense pesters the opposition nightly. Averaging 39.8 total team rebounds, SLC often controls the glass against their opposition.

The Lakers spread the scoring around evenly, however, Danelle Buck leads her team with 15.4 points per game while shooting 49.7 percent from the field. The junior forward is quite active in the paint averaging a team high 8.3 rebounds per contest.
