FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Today at the Whispering Springs Golf Club, the Mount Mary University golf team finished day one of the two-day Marian Invitational. The Blue Angels finished 11th in team scoring while Lake Forest finished first after day one.
Haley Jacquez (Sr./Oakley, Calif.) led the round for the Blue Angels at the multi-team event. Jacquez finished with multiple bogeys on par-3 holes including No. 3 and No. 15. The senior recorded a 66 in the opening nine holes then a 68 in the back nine and finished 59th overall.
Two strokes behind Jacquez, Taylor Hienbuecher (So./Sycamore, Ill.) tallied 136 in her first round of the event. The sophomore hit a 70 in the front nine of today's Whispering Springs Golf Course. After the turn, the young golfer made adjustments and came away with a bogey on hole No. 15 and shave four strokes off her first nine holes.
Rounding out the day, Hayley Smalley (Sr./Columbus, Ind.) finished 65th in individual play. The senior had a big turn around from the front nine to the back. After logging a 94 score before the turn, Smalley focused and delivered with her long drives. Smalley collected a 67 in the back nine which included a bogey on a 386 par-4.
