Blue Angels End Tourney

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Today at Whispering Springs Golf Course, the Mount Mary University golf team finished 10th during the Marian Invitational. Lake Forest took first place in team scoring, while UW-Whitewater's Lily Sheppard took first in a come-from-behind victory and a 170 total score over during the two-day tournament.

Leading the way for the Blue Angels in day-two of the tournament was Jaclyn Hoffstetter (Sr./Darien, Ill.). Hofstetter did not play in day one, however, in her 18-hole round today, the senior finished with a 112. Although she did not qualify for individual ranking, she helped the Blue Angels finish tenth in the tournament.

Finishing in 56th place, Haley Jacquez (Sr./Oakley, Calif.) ended day-two with a much-improved round from her previous round. After finishing with a 134 on Saturday, Jacquez knocked over a dozen strokes off her scorecard. After her 18-holes on Sunday, Jacquez finished with an overall tournament scorer of 254.

Taylor Hienbuecher (So./Sycamore, Ill.) improved her score as well in the second day of the tourney. Hienbuecher closed out the tournament with a 271 overall score after she cut a stroke off her daily score. After play on Sunday, the sophomore placed 61st in individual scoring.

Following suit with the rest of her teammates, Hayley Smalley (Sr./Columbus, Ind.) brushed off a full 17 points off her score from the first day to the second. Smalley finished day-two in 63rd place and a 144 score for her play on Sunday.

The Blue Angels return to play on Fri. Sept. 20 when they head to Riverside Golf Course for a two-day tournament hosted by UW-Whitewater. For updates, news and scores for the Blue Angels check out MtMaryAthletics.com.
