Blue Angels Travel To Lincoln Christian
Mount Mary University heads to Lincoln, Ill. to play Lincoln Christian University.
It has been a full week since the Mount Mary University soccer team has played a game, but after the match against Lincoln Christian University on Sept. 20, the Blue Angels won't have much rest between games until the end of the season.
Last season, Lincoln Christian University won both games with a combined score of 17-3. The first meeting was a very difficult match for the Blue Angels as they had been riddled with injuries and had to shift around young players into positions they weren't normally playing, the final in that was 14-1. Less than two weeks later, with some Navy Halos on the mend, the improvements were evident as the score would be tied at half, but the Red Lions would finish ahead with a 3-2 final score.
Emily Ristow (Jr./Sheboygan, Wis.) has 11 shots on goal this year to lead the Blue Angels, of those 11 shots, five got past the goalie. Ristow has taken control of the offense this year, as she is responsible for 72 percent of her teams scoring.
Goals against the MMU have come at a premium this season, as Becky Onan (Fr./Grafton, Wis.) has been stellar between the posts. Onan leads the Association of Division III Independents in saves this season with 75, despite not having a game in a week.
The Red Lions come into the Sept. 20 game at 0-4, and have been outscored by opponents 24-0 on the year. Todd Spellman is in his third season as the Lincoln Christian University women's soccer head coach.
The Blue Angels will square off against the Red Lions Sept. 20 in Lincoln, Ill. starting at 2:00 pm.
