Another Big Outburst Gives Blue Angels The Win

MILWAUKEE – The Blue Angels are on a roll, two games in a row with a victory as they defeat Robert Morris-Lake County 8-0. The game marks the second shutout in a row for the defense, and the second straight contest that Emily Ristow (Jr./Sheboygan, Wis.) scored four goals in the contest. The victory for the Blue Angels at Mount Mary Field is the first time this season the team won back to back contests.

The game was again a combined shutout, today Becky Onan (Fr./Grafton, Wis.) started and finished the first half in goal. And as it has been the recipe for late in the season, Marissa Rechlicz (Fr./West Allis, Wis.) played the entire second half as goalkeeper. The Blue Angels that were in goal, only had one save each, as the MMU defense swarmed the Eagles at every opportunity.

It was the offense that really shinned through today, while the defense continued to dig the ball out of the backfield, the offense was set up numerous times with fast break opportunities. Ristow took full advantage of that scoring a hat trick in the first half, and setting up Rechlicz for a first half goal.

Nina Her (Sr./Brown Deer, Wis.) is getting ready for "Senior Night", warming up with a quick goal five minutes into the second half as she broke past multiple defenders and put a great shot on goal. Nina Her set up Ristow a few minutes later to give Ristow her fourth goal of the game, the third time in two weeks Ristow has done that.

Quickly, Ristow returned the favor to Nina Her, as three minutes later Ristow hit Nina Her on the way to Her's second goal of the night. The final goal came in the 76th minute from Becky Onan, off a ricochet from Nina Her to make it 8-0. This is one of the rare times two goalkeepers played an entire half in goal, yet each scored a goal in the opposite half.

Mount Mary University now will get ready to host Andrews University Sunday Oct. 26th at 2:00 pm. The match at Mount Mary Field will feature the second game of this year's series between the teams, the first ending in a hard fought 2-2 tie. Do not forget to wear your Nina Her and Emily Ristow jerseys to the game, as we will be honoring this year's graduating class at "Senior Night."
