OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Today it was announced that Hannah Rose (So./Jeromesville, Ohio) is the next Association of Division III Independents women's soccer Player of the Week. The first Blue Angel to earn a weekly all-association award in 2017, Rose was instrumental in the outcome this last weekend.
After the doing her best to resist the Muskies earlier in the week, Rose bounced back on Sat. Sept.16 when the Mount Mary University soccer team (1-3-1) took on Finlandia University (0-4-1). As the Lions poured on shot after shot, Rose deterred each shot on goal until a rebound shot found the back of the net with just five minutes left in the half.
Down 1-0 and shorthanded, the Blue Angels and Rose took charge and shutout the Lions in the final half of play. Following a tying goal from teammate Becky Onan (Sr./Grafton, Wis.), Rose then shutout the Lions in the final two overtime periods to help MMU grab the 1-1 tie.
19 Saves in the last week, Rose looks to continue being the Blue Angels wall today at Mount Mary Field. Kickoff is set for 3:00 pm when the Blue Angels take on the Eureka College Red Devils (1-4). Live stats will be made available at mtmaryathletics.com.
