Jacquez Amazes ACAA

Jacquez Amazes ACAA

MILWAUKEE – Haley Jacquez (Jr./Oakley, Calif.) has been named the American Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Soccer Player of the Week. After Jacquez received her first start in goal, and played in her first ever collegiate soccer match, the Mount Mary Junior stopped 27 shots from the opposing Lakeland University Muskies (3-1-1). Jacquez is the first student-athlete from Mount Mary University to earn an award from the ACAA. (ACAA Article)

Two days prior to the Blue Angels home opener against the Muskies, Jacquez was on the golf course leading her Blue Angels on the links with a team low score. After a grueling 18 holes on Friday, the junior battled through 18 holes at Currie Park Golf Course to lead her team yet again in scoring.

After the combined 36 holes, Jacquez turned to the soccer team to lend a hand. With two seasons of NCAA DIII level varsity softball, Jacquez is no stranger to using her hands and quick feet to knock down balls in the middle infield. Jacquez has routinely made Web-Gem type plays for the Blue Angels and has taken away multiple hits from her opponents on the softball field.

Last Sunday, Jacquez quickness stopped or deterred 27 shots that were in threat of scoring a goal. The inaugural performance from Jacquez now has her sitting in second place in the ACAA in saves second only to teammate Hannah Rose (Jr./Jeromesville, Ohio) who has 36.

Along with the shear number of saves, Jacquez is second in the conference in save percentage with .818.

Jacquez and the Blue Angels return to the pitch this weekend for two away games. First the Blue Angels will head to Eureka, Ill. to take on the Red Devils Friday afternoon, then they will return to Milwaukee to take on Wisconsin Lutheran College on Sunday.
