Warriors Win At Home

MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary University soccer team lost their Sunday contest against Wisconsin Lutheran College by a score of 10-0. After the Warriors (3-3) took an early 8-0 lead in the first half, they were able to outlast MMU and move the Blue Angels record to 1-4 on the season.

Nine minutes into the contest, the Warriors attack finally broke through MMU's defense and Miriam Carreno found her first of two goals on the day to make the score 1-0.

At the 14-minute mark, Helen Joyce received a well-placed passed to move the score to 2-0. Then one minute later, Carreno found her second goal of the game to make things 3-0 at 15:44.

Over the next three minutes, the Warriors added three more goals and inflated the lead out to 6-0. After WLC's Kayla Mitchell added a pair of goals in the remaining 20 minutes of play, the Warriors walked into the locker room with an 8-0 lead.

Hannah Rose (Jr./Jeromesville, Ohio) started in goal for the fourth time this season, and corralled 10 saves in the first half. The opposition fired 37 shots in the first half, with 18 targeted on the goal.

Rose and the defense reformulated in the second half and held the opposition to just two goals scored on their 18 shots. Rose was able to add six more saves in the second half to add a total of 16 saves on the year.

With 61 saves total on the season, Rose now leads the American Collegiate Athletic Association in saves and is seventh in the conference in save percentage (.663).
