Crown Captures Win

MILWAUKEE – Today at Blue Angels Soccer Field, the Mount Mary University soccer team lost to the visiting Crown College Storm by a score of 6-0. After being held to just two goals in the first half, Crown added four more in the second half to make the team 1-0 on the year.

Crown began the game on the attack. Two minutes into the game, the Storm fired their first shot on goal, Hannah Rose (Sr./Jeromesville, Ohio) then collected her first save of the afternoon. Within the first ten minutes of play, the Storm fired four shots on goal, each stopped by Rose.

12 minutes into the game, Anna Kragt broke away and knocked in her first goal of the day. After that, the Blue Angels began to trade possessions evenly with the Storm. Both teams attacked the goal in the first half, but it was not until the 40-minutes mark that either team was able to break through. Sidney Manske delivered the Storm their second goal making things 2-0 heading into halftime.

The Storm continued to attack early in the second half. 16 seconds into the half, the Storm had a 3-on-1 break and Hailey Carter was able to knock in a quick goal. A minute later Kragt took a deflected ball was able to sneak it past Rose for the fourth goal of the game.

Crown added two more goals in the final ten minutes to push the score to 6-0 for the win.

MMU had seven shots on the day with four on goal. Halee Van de Boom (Jr./Saukville, Wis.) led with two shots, both on goal. Teammate Hannah Rose led the team with 19 saves on the day as she moves to 0-1 in goal.
