MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary University soccer team lost today's contest against visiting Alverno College by a score of 3-0. The Inferno (2-3) scored three goals in the first half at Blue Angels Soccer Field, then the Blue Angels (1-5) held the opposition scoreless for the remaining 45 minutes of play.

Rival Alverno started the game on the attack. The Inferno took an early three shots and four corner kicks in the first ten minutes of action. At 10:05, the Shaye Wolfe hit teammate Andy Lopez within the goal box. Lopez quickly flicked a shot into the goal to make the score 1-0.

Over the next 17 minutes, the two teams traded possessions. The Inferno took seven shots in that period, with only two on goal. The first shot, Hannah Rose (Jeromesville, Ohio) made a diving save. The second shot found the back of the net off a turnaround shot from Alverno's Angela Chobanian.

Rose denied three more shots in the half. At 43:48, the Inferno scored when Jess Flores found Shaye Wolfe in position near the goal. Wolfe's goal made the score 3-0 right before the end of the first half.

In the second half, the Inferno were limited to 11 shots, Rose saved all the nine shots on goal. Rose leads the American Collegiate Athletic Association in saves with 67.

On offense, the Blue Angels were able to attack with two shots in the second half. One from Nyasia Hardy (Fr./Fort Wayne, Ind.) and the other from Lexi Shadlow (Fr./Chicago, Ill.).

The Mount Mary University soccer team returns to play on Sat. Sept. 21 at 1:00 pm against Earlham. The Blue Angels travel to Richmond, Ind. for their first ever contest against the Quakers. Live stats and video for the contest will be available at MtMaryAthletics.com.
