ASHLAND, Wis. -- Mount Mary University drops matches against Maranatha Baptist University and Rockford University to conclude the Northland College Tournament.
The Maranatha Baptist University Sabercats came out with a high octane offense against the Blue Angels in the first match of a doubleheader. MBU would stay consistent with their offensive performance and defensive strength with a quick three set sweep (25-7, 25-7, 25-8).
The Sabercats Rachel Glaze (Fr./Twin Falls, Idaho) led the way in the match with six kills and three serve aces.
The Blue Angels Payton Hintz (Fr./Almond, Wis.) led her team with 14 digs. Hintz and Sarah Wishau (Sr./Oak Creek, Wis.) led MMU with three kills apiece.
The second match would be a three set match for the Rockford Regents (25-9, 25-14, 25-6). The Blue Angels improved offensively, but couldn't quite get things clicking.
Taylor Baumgart (So./Burlington, Wis.) led the Blue Angels with six kills, while Molly Peck (Fr./Milwuakee, Wis.) and Wishau led the team with 10 digs each. Andrea Roell (So./Kingsford, Mich.) had a team high three assists.
Ashley Simmons (Fr./Naperville, Ill.) had a match high of nine kills, and helped out with 4 serve aces. Taylor Rossi (So./Ingleside, Ill.) would lead the game in serve aces with eight, and assists with 16.
MMU looks to turn things around Sept. 13 as they head down to Alverno College for the Alverno Triangular. The Blue Angels will start the action at 3:30 pm against Beloit College (0-8) and then quickly turn around to play the host Inferno (1-4).
