Bucs Get In Front Early

BELOIT, Wis. – Another tough match for the Blue Angels, as they lose to Beloit College 3-0. The contest tonight was played at Flood Arena on Beloit's campus.

With Sarah Wishau (Sr./Oak Creek, Wis.) still out with injury, the Blue Angels have had to make adjustments to the lineup. As they have had to deal with injuries all season long, it seems that it is a continuing theme for MMU.

Without the senior, the Blue Angels are left with some big shoes to fill in front of the net. They did their best to step in as Andrea Roell (So./Kingsford, Mich.) stepped up with a team leading four kills, while Payton Hintz (Fr./Almond, Wis.) had four kills also with seven assists.

The Buccaneers were just ready from the first serve, they took the first set in a respectable 25-17 effort. In the second set, the servers from the Bucs were tough to stop. Julianne Gruenhagen (Sr./North Park, Minn.) had seven service aces, and help guide BC to a 25-4 win in the second set.

MMU bounced back in the final set, but it was not enough as the Buccaneers held on 25-17 to get the sweep.

Coach Kelsey Peterson tried to explain what she saw, "We made a lot more technical errors and really got stuck in the second set in serve/receive." Coach did see some bright spots, "On a positive note we had a lot more aggressive attacks."

Now it is time for the Blue Angels to head to Watertown, Wis. to play Maranatha Baptist University for the fourth time this season. The Sabercats lead the season series at 3-0. The match is this Friday Oct. 24th at 7:00 pm.
