ROCKFORD, Ill. – Tonight at the Seaver Center, host Rockford University (2-20) defeated the Mount Mary University volleyball team by a final score of 3-0. The Regents won the first two set 25-13 and 25-16, then the Blue Angels (0-13) came from behind multiple times to push the final set 25-23.

In the first set the Regents took a 3-0 lead, then the Blue Angels came back quickly. With Johnelle Suto (Fr./Enterprise, Ore.) at the service line, MMU grabbed a 6-5 lead. The two teams subsequently traded the lead until a 12-12 tie was broken by a 13-1 run by the Regents.

RU won the second set with an accurate nine team kills and five errors on 21 total attacks. The Blue Angels hit three team kills on their 19 total attacks in the set.

In the final set, the Blue Angels traded the lead multiple times with the Regents. Swapping throughout, MMU tied the set at 23-23 on a timely kill from Lauren Harris (So./Sheridan, Ill.) that was setup from teammate Payton Hintz (Sr./Almond, Wis.).

The Regents were able to hold for the final two points to grab the 25-23 set-win and the 3-0 match-win.

Rookie Johnelle Suto led the Blue Angels in assists with nine. Her teammates Hintz and Harris led the attack for the Blue Angels.

Hintz led in overall kills with seven on 18 total attacks. The senior also chipped in with five assists and a team leading six digs.

Harris added six kills on 20 total attacks and five digs to help her team on the evening.

Following tonight's match, the Blue Angels will prepare for three games this weekend at the Grace Bible College Tournament. MMU will start their first of three games on Fri. Oct. 13 at 4:00 pm EST. For updates, stats and video stay tuned to mtmaryathletics.com.
