MINNEAPOLIS – Today at the Clark-Danielson Gymnasium the Mount Mary University volleyball team lost to host North Central University by a score of 3-0. The Rams move to 7-24 and the Blue Angels complete their 2018 campaign with a record of 2-18.

The Blue Angels took the first lead and promptly expanded it to 4-2. The host Rams fought right back to quickly recapture the lead with a 5-1 run. NCU expanded the lead slightly, but the Blue Angels continued to nip at the host's heels.

The Rams continued to attack effectively hitting 16 team kills on 44 total attacks to slip away with the 25-17 set win. As a team, the Blue Angels hit seven team kills of their 38 total attacks.

In the second set, the Rams continued with their efficient hitting. Once out to a 8-1 lead, the Rams did not surrender that lead thereafter for the remainder of the set. A team killing percentage of .176 coupled with a couple of extended streaks gave NCU the 25-13 set win.

In the day's third set, the Blue Angels took an early lead and continued to trade points with the opposition. MMU started the set with a 6-4 lead. Not before long, the Rams tied things at 6-6, then traded leads with the Blue Angels until going on a 5-0 run of their own.

Down 14-10, the Blue Angels began their 9-4 run to recapture the lead. MMU continued to attack and took a 24-22 lead with the set point looming. The Rams then went on a 4-0 run to end the set 26-24, and the match 3-0.

In her final collegiate match, Lauren Harris (Sr./Sheridan, Ill.) led her Blue Angels with eight kills on 26 attacks and only one attack error. Harris along with fellow senior Marissa Tun (Greenfield, Wis.) led MMU with 10 digs.

Tun also added three assists in her final match for the Blue Angels. Teammate Alessa Nelson (Jr./Rockford, Ill.) led the squad with 15 assists on the day.

Both Adrianna Nester (Jr./Anaheim, Calif.) and Alexis Levenhagen (Fr./Menomonee Falls, Wis.) with five and three kills respectively.

The Blue Angels conclude the season with a 2-18 record. Although a small step in the standings, the Blue Angels took major strides on the court. For the first time in three seasons, the Blue Angels have a positive team hitting percentage. In addition to a multitude of statistical categories improving from 2017, MMU pushed multiple sets into extra points this year and labored through very tight contests.
