Blue Angels Take Sixth

MEQUON, Wis. – Today at the Ken Weidt Classic, the Mount Mary University cross country team finished sixth out of the nine teams racing. Madison King from Ripon College finished first overall with a 25:59.1 time to help her squad take first in team scoring as well.

Finishing ahead of the pack for the Blue Angels was Emily Green (Fr./Waukesha, Wis.) in her second ever collegiate race, but first of the six-kilometer length. The freshman finished 24th overall and crossed the finish line at 30:22.2.

Right behind her teammate in 29th place Daniela Torres (Jr./West Allis, Wis.). The junior runner finished with a 30:55.8 finishing time. Just 10 seconds off away from her collegiate personal record at that distance.

Christina Ishaq (Sr./Milwaukee, Wis.) and Miranda Fluegge (So./Menomonee Falls, Wis.) finished in a near tie with each other. Ishaq crossed the finish line at 31:36.0, while Fluegge was a literal step behind finishing at 31:36.7 for 34th and 35th place respectively.

Johnelle Suto (So./Enterprise, Ore.) finished up the team scoring for the Blue Angels finishing her six-kilometers in 32:59.2. Just two places behind Suto was Ana Andrade (Sr./Milwaukee, Wis.) who placed 43rd and recorded a 33:34.4 time in her first collegiate six-kilometer course. Teammate Amanda Fahrendorf (Sr./Cedarburg, Wis.) closed out the placing for the Blue Angels as the senior placed 53rd officially.

The Blue Angels return to the course on Sat. Sept 22 when they head to Kenosha, Wis. to compete in the annual Lucian Rosa Invitational. The 10:30 am race will feature teams spanning across all three divisions of the NCAA. To find updates, final times and info, visit MtMaryAthletics.com.
