Blue Angels Take Sixth

KENOSHA, Wis. – Today at the Lucian Rosa Invitational the Mount Mary University cross country team finished sixth in team scoring. The host UW Parkside Rangers took first place; Amanda Johnson of the Rangers finished first in individual times with a 23:17.3 on the six-kilometer course.

In the pool of NCAA runners from all different divisions, Christina Ishaq (Sr./Milwaukee, Wis.) of the Blue Angels finished 43rd in her third race of the season. As the senior continues to lead her squad in 2018, this week, she was able to finish with a 27:58.9 to set the bar for her teammates.

Not far behind Ishaq, Miranda Fluegge (So./Menomonee Falls, Wis.) and Emily Green (Fr./Waukesha, Wis.) finished in 56th and 57th place respectively. Fluegge trudged the track with the rest of her team on the sunny, yet brisk day and was able to finish with a 29:41.1 time. Teammate Emily Green was a literal step behind finishing at 29:43.0.

Newcomer Johnelle Suto (So./Enterprise, Ore.) finished in 60th place in the eight-team race. Suto averaged a pace of 8:12 minutes per mile on her way to a finishing time of 30:36.4.

Rounding out the team scoring for the day, Ana Andrade (Sr./Milwaukee, Wis.) finished the six-kilometer race in 31:33.3 taking nearly two minutes off her previous finish at that distance. Andrade placed 69th to finish out the team placing that resulted in MMU taking sixth.

Amanda Fahrendorf (Sr./Cedarburg, Wis.) finished the day with 38:27.0 to finish things off for the Blue Angels at the Lucian Rosa Invitational.

The Blue Angels will return to action Sat. Sept. 29 at the Warrior Invitational at Greenfield Park. Wisconsin Lutheran College will be hosting the event set for an 11:00 am starting gun. Updates and final times for the Blue Angels can be found at MtMaryAthletics.com.
