Blue Angels Take Tenth

AURORA, Ill. – Today at the Oakhurst Forest Preserve, the Mount Mary University cross country team finished 10th out of the conference's 11 teams participating in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships. Edgewood won the championship in team scoring, while Benedictine's Emma Robert finished first on the six-kilometer course with a 21:41.25.

As she continued the trend she has set all season long, Christina Ishaq (Sr./Milwaukee, Wis.) led the pack for the Blue Angels at the NACC Championships. In her fifth team leading finish of the season, Ishaq braved the mid-forties temperatures with her teammates. Ishaq crossed the line at 25:46.68 for 30th place overall, 34 seconds faster than her season's best at 6k.

Finishing in 58th place overall was Emily Green (Fr./Waukesha, Wis.). The first-year runner has continually finished right behind Ishaq this season. Each race, the young Blue Angel has chopped off time from her season's best, and this week was no different. 27:19.10 set the new bar for Green with one race left to go on the schedule.

Paces behind Green, again, was Miranda Fluegge (So./Menomonee Falls, Wis.). The sophomore crossed the finish line 28:15.23 for 65th place overall. Taking nearly 20 seconds of her season's best for six-kilometer tracks, Fluegge has followed suit with MMU's top runners.

Ana Andrade (Sr./Milwaukee, Wis.) and Amanda Fahrendorf (Sr./Cedarburg, Wis.) rounded out the scoring for the Blue Angels. Both seniors cut time off their previous 6k race. Andrade finished 74th with a 29:08.68 time while Fahrendorf ended the day with a 35:25.19 finish.

The Blue Angels will have two weeks to prepare for the NCAA Regionals in Eau Claire, Wis. on Sat. Nov. 10 at 11:00 pm. For final times, news and info, check out MtMaryAthletics.com.
