Blue Angels Head to Warrior Invite

GREENFIELD, Wis. – Today at Greenfield Park, the Mount Mary University cross country team took part in the annual Warrior Invitational hosted by fellow Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference institution, Wisconsin Lutheran College. Edgewood College won first in team scoring in the pool of 15 official teams. The Blue Angels sent four runners to the 165 member race today on the six-kilometer track.

Leading the way for the Blue Angels in the annual invite was Daniela Torres (Sr./West Allis, Wis.). The senior runner was in front of the pack of Blue Angels for the entire race. Landing in 34th place, Torres crossed the finish line at 27:29.94.

Right behind Torres was sophomore Emily Green (Waukesha, Wis.). Although Green finished the muddy track just 90 seconds after teammate Daniela Torres, Green placed 67th overall with a 29:09.51 finish.

Junior Miranda Fluegge (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) was a few paces behind Green. Nearly the same distance as the previous two Blue Angels finished, Fluegge crossed the timeline at 30:29.27 for a placing of 79th.

Johnelle Suto (Jr./Enterprise, Ore.) was the final Blue Angel to cross the finish line today at Greenfield Park. The junior followed suit with her teammates and was not too far behind the previous Blue Angel. Suto placed 100th overall and closed the day with a 31:49.57 time.

After today's meet, the Blue Angels return to the track in two weeks when they travel to Appleton, Wis. for the annual Wisconsin Private College Championships. The meet in Appleton is scheduled for Sat. Oct. 19 for an 11:00 AM starting gun. Check out MtMaryAthletics.com for updates, news and times.
