MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary University softball team is 4-13 midway through the 2019 season. Helping the Blue Angels on both sides of the softball field, Adrianna Nester (Jr./Anaheim, Calif.) is the next Blue Angels Spotlight Player.

For the third straight season, Nester has done whatever the Blue Angels needed. Taking charge in the circle this season, Nester has 29.2 innings logged along with her pitching staff’s lowest earned run average of 3.30. The junior hurler also makes the opposition whiff at the highest rate striking out 3.78 batters per seven innings.

Nester has also done her job defensively this season. While not on the mound, the junior has worked in the MMU outfield and in her combined defensive efforts Nester has a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage this season. Along with her lack of defensive errors, Nester has added 19 assists and 11 putouts.

At the plate Nester is a crucial bat to the MMU lineup. Hitting a .203 batting average this year and a .236 on-base percentage shows part of the story. Nester consistently bolsters the offense for MMU, recently the junior pitcher is riding a three-game hitting streak and went 3-of-7 against Rockford in last weekend’s doubleheader.

Nester is third on her team for overall hits with 11, and is tied for the lead in triples with two this season. The third-year Blue Angel is also a pesky at-bat for the opposition, Nester leads the team in overall at-bats with 53, but has the third lowest amount of strikeouts by her team.

This week Nester and her Blue Angels will head to Illinois to take on North Central (15-5) on Saturday, then back to Wisconsin to take on Silver Lake (0-12) for MMU’s home opener on Sunday. Live stats will be available for both games. Check MtMaryAthletics.com for details and upcoming news.
