Hintz With Big Finish

Hintz With Big Finish

MILWAUKEE – In her final week of collegiate softball, Payton Hintz (Sr./Almond, Wis.) led her Blue Angels on the softball field and is now the final Blue Angel Spotlight of the 2017-18 athletic season. Hintz crushed the ball all week long and capped off her NCAA career helping her team to win three of their final four games in 2018.

The Blue Angels began the week finishing their season series against their longtime rival Maranatha Baptist University (1-24). The Sabercats picked up their offense in both games of their doubleheader, but so did Payton Hintz.

In game one, Hintz went 2-of-2 at the plate with a pair of walks and three runs. One of those two hits for Hintz was a devastating three-run homerun to left field. Although no official measurements, the blast hit by Hintz cleared the fence easily and was the longest fair ball of the season for the Blue Angels.

Hintz finished the second game of the series with a 1-of-4 performance at the plate with two RBIs.

In the final two-game series for Hintz, the senior had an amazing finish. Seemingly impossible for the Rockford pitching staff to get out, Hintz went a combined 5-of-6 from the plate in her final two games with three doubles, two runs score and seven RBIs. That included her final performance in navy and gold where she was a perfect 4-of-4 with five RBIs and helped her team grab the 13-8 win to cap off their season.

With the combined 12 RBIs in her last week of play and a number of extrabase hits, Hintz finishes the season leading the Blue Angels with 25 RBIs, seven doubles, one homerun, a .356 batting average and a .525 slugging percentage.

With the 2018 season in the rearview mirror, the rest of the Blue Angels will shift in to offseason mode as they say “good-bye” to their only senior. From the entire Blue Angel community, Thank you Payton!
