Jori Galles: 09-18-17

MILWAUKEE – Following an astonishing top ten performance at the Tom Hoffman Invitational Jori Galles (Sr./Waukesha, Wis.) has been named the Blue Angels Spotlight Player for the second straight week. In her third straight race, Galles was the first Blue Angel to cross the finish line, this time the senior came away with an eighth place finish.

One of only two other Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference runners to finish in the top ten of the 150 runner event, Galles trudged through quite a difficult terrain last Saturday on her way to a 25:55.5 time. The Blue Angels have never entered a race at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater course, but that had no impact on Galles.

Although higher than her personal record, the senior found her way to the front of the pack for the third race in a row which the Blue Angels have participated. Galles added five seconds to her six-kilometer finishing time this week from her top 30 finish at the Ken Weidt Classic, but found a way to be just 47 seconds away from the races individual winner, Jessica Braun (UW Whitewater).

The Mount Mary University cross country team and Galles will have this weekend to recoup and prepare for the Warrior Invite at Greenfield Park. Fellow NACC school Wisconsin Lutheran College will play host to the event. Starting gun is scheduled to sound at 11:00 am.
