Record Setting Senior

MILWAUKEE – After a record-setting week for the senior, Adrianna Nester is the next Blue Angels Spotlight Player. Nester has been leading her team all season long and it culminated last week with a few record-setting performances.

The Mount Mary University volleyball team added two of their four season-wins this last week. Nester was an instrumental player in every game as she helped MMU reach 4-20 with some spectacular performances. After the Blue Angels took rubber-match against Holy Family College in the Lakers triangular, MMU faced FBBC for the first time in two days.

Nester was all over the court in the second game of the triangular leading her team in multiple categories. Nester posted a team high 13 kills on the day on her way to a .256 kill percentage. Along with leading her team’s attack during play Nester also led her team from outside the service line. In MMU’s 3-1 victory over the Eagles, Nester landed nine service aces. That total tied the program’s single-match record for service aces; Payton Hintz (’18) collected nine service aces in a match in 2016.

On Saturday, Nester and the Blue Angels hosted the Eagles at the Bloechl Center. The senior kept her team close in the 3-1 lost to the Eagles. While again leading her team in kills with 17, Nester kept a myriad of the opponent’s attacks from scoring. With multiple extended points in the match five different Blue Angels finished the game with 20 or more digs including Nester, who finished with a total of 42 digs. That total of 42 digs set the new program record for a single match by an individual.

Nester and the Blue Angels will return to action this week when they host the 2019 MMU Invite. A two-day event featuring five visiting teams from around the region that begins this Friday at the Bloechl Center. Check out MtMaryAthletics.com for times, news and links.
