Golo Gets Goin'

MILWAUKEE – Melissa Golo (Fr./Boise, Idaho) has started every game in her first season of collegiate basketball and her recent surge on the court has earned her the next Blue Angels Spotlight Player. Most recently, Golo led her offense in Saturday’s contest against Northland (3-2).

To this point in the season, the young guard has started in all six contest and is third on her team in points per game with 8.5. Quickly become acclimated to the collegiate level of play, Golo shows a lot of confidence when handling the ball all over the court. Her speed and control with the ball has helped her average 2.5 assists per game, which is second on the team in that category.

Last Saturday, Golo demonstrated her offensive prowess with a team leading 15 points. The guard hit a team leading 3-of-7 from outside the 3-point arc and 6-of-13 overall from the field. Along with scoring, Golo dished out three assists against the Lumberjills and swiped away one steal.

Her consistency on both sides of the court has also led to her not only starting every game, but to also averaging 28.8 minutes per game: NCAA consist of a 40 minutes of regulation play.

Golo and the Blue Angels will return to action this week for a pair of contests. The first game for MMU will be on the campus of University Wisconsin Stevens Point on Tue. Dec. 4.
