MILWAUKEE – This week’s Blue Angels Spotlight Players is Lucy Pavelko (Jr./Muskego, Wis.). The third-year starter for the Blue Angels has continued to keep her team going on both sides of the court all season long. Mount Mary University Basketball earned two wins last week, and Pavelko was instrumental.
Last week's first win for the Blue Angels was at Stevens Point, Wis. against Northland College, who had recently defeated MMU just four days prior. In the 69-65 comeback victory over the Lumberjills. Pavelko was busy all over the court.
The junior guard dished out a team high four assists and scored seven points in the win against Northland. Playing the full 40 minutes, Pavelko gutted out the charge on both ends for the Blue Angels. Playing high-pressure defense throughout, Pavelko was able to come away with one of her teams 11 steals in the game.
Last Saturday, the Blue Angels returned to the Bloechl Center where Pavelko again led the defensive charge. In the 54-31 victory over Crown College, the Blue Angels were able to limit the opposition to just three fourth-quarter points.
The defensive shutdown by the Blue Angels resulted in nine team steals against the Storm. As she has all season long, Pavelko played high-pressure defense throughout and came away with a team high three steals.
On the offensive side of the ball, Pavleko kept the Blue Angels offense flowing. The junior guard distributed five assists as she led her team to a 5-3 record.
Pavelko and the Blue Angels will return to action Mon. Dec. 17 at the Bloechl Center. MMU will play host to Blackburn College as the two teams go head-to-head in their last contest before semester break. Live stats and streaming will be available at MtMaryAthletics.com.
