MILWAUKEE – Congratulations to Ashley Contreras (Fr./College Station, Texas), the next Mount Mary University Spotlight Player.

So far in the first twelve games of the softball season, Contreras has been the much need shot in the arm for the Blue Angels. Along with bringing MMU their first victory of the 2015 season pitching for her team, the rookie now brings an element of stability to the circle.

The youngster has started five games so far this season, and has labored through 37 innings giving up 41 runs, while striking out 19 batters.

In addition to solidifying the pitching for MMU, Contreras is on a tear at the plate. She is leading the Blue Angels with a .361 batting average, six doubles and a .528 slugging percentage.

After a big spring trip for the freshman, now she will be tested against some tough regional competition. Among some of the top teams in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, the Blue Angels will battle their Association of Division III Independent rival Maranatha Baptist University.
