Milwaukee, Wis. --- The Mount Mary University Blue Angels returned home to the Bloechl Center. They welcomed the Trolls of Trinity Christian for a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletics Conference (CCAC) matchup. The Trolls secured all three sets, winning the match 3-0.
In set one, the Blue Angels jumped out to a 4-0 lead. The Trolls caught back up immediately after the Blue Angel run. They then went on a run of their own, bringing the score to 12-5. The Blue Angels scored two consecutive points off the Trolls' errors, 12-8. The Trolls scored six more before the Blue Angels grabbed a kill by Gabby Saucedo Salas (Flagstaff, Ariz.), 18-12. The rest of the set was primarily in favor of the Trolls, who came out on top, 25-15.
Set two started in favor of the Trolls. However, Abigail Manthey (Mukwonago, Wis.) tied things up at 3-3 with a service ace. The Trolls then took control of set two in a dominating fashion. A string of long runs forced the Blue Angels to take a timeout, 17-9. Following the timeout, the Blue Angels snatched four points, bringing them within four, 17-13. The Trolls took control once again, finishing set two, 25-14.
The Trolls scored seven straight to begin set three, 7-0. An error from the Trolls got the Blue Angels on the board. The Trolls went on another long streak, scoring six more points before Andriana White (Erin, Tenn.) slammed one down, 13-2. The rest of the set was in the hands of the Trolls, who won 25-9, and won the match 3-0.
The Blue Angels look to bounce back as they have a quick turnaround. They will stay at home tomorrow, Wednesday, September 24th, at 6:00 p.m. against the Viterbo V-Hawks.
