V-Hawks Fly Away With 3-0 Win Over Blue Angels
Milwaukee, Wis. --- The Mount Mary University Blue Angels welcomed the conference leader, Viterbo V-Hawks. The Blue Angels put up a great fight in set one, but the V-Hawks secured the sweep.
The Blue Angels started things off thanks to a kill from Delnora Darden (Hendersonville, Tenn.). Joining the kills party was Ciani Williams (Gurnee, Ill.) at 2-2. Gabby Saucedo Salas (Flagstaff, Ariz.) scored her first kill of the night as the Blue Angels trailed 7-5. Darden and Andriana White (Erin, Tenn.) put down back-to-back kills to bring the Blue Angels within one point, 13-12. The V-Hawks went on a long streak, which forced Mount Mary to take a timeout, 21-14. Mount Mary was able to score three more points, but the V-Hawks reached 25 first, 25-17.
Set two started, and the V-Hawks took control. Williams grabbed herself another kill as the Blue Angels trailed 5-2. Viterbo scored a string of four kills in a row that forced a Blue Angel timeout, 13-4. The V-Hawks dominated the rest of the set. Darden scored the last kill of the set for the Blue Angels, but the V-Hawks won set two, 25-9.
Similar to set two, the V-Hawks had complete control of set three. Nevenah Dukic (Franklin, Wis.) got herself a service ace to take MMU's only lead of the night, 2-1. The V-Hawks totaled five more points before Williams launched a kill, 7-4. The rest of the set was in favor of the V-Hawks as they finished the set on a 12-point run, 25-8. Viterbo took the match, 3-0.
The Blue Angels will stay at home next Tuesday, September 20th.
