It's another busy week at Mount Mary as volleyball looks to rebound at Bloechl and soccer takes on Andrews in a Sunday matinee in This Week in Blue Angel Athletics for September 20-26, 2021.
Volleyball to Battle Bucs Tuesday, Host MSOE Invite
Mount Mary returns to action Friday and Saturday after going 0-4 at its trip to the Lawrence Invite last weekend. The Blue Angels fell Friday to Maranatha Baptist, 3-0, and Finlandia, 3-2, before dropping matches to MSOE, 3-0, and Lawrence 3-1 on Saturday.
A pair of schedule changes highlight this week's slate. After a last-minute cancelled dual with Beloit College Tuesday, MMU will get to host another weekend on its own campus. The MSOE Invitational, a five-team, eight-match, single-court round robin, was originally scheduled to be played at Hotchkin Arena in downtown Milwaukee. However, due to scheduling conflicts, all matches this weekend have been moved to the Bloechl Center.
Dual-"hosts" Mount Mary (3-10 overall) and MSOE (8-5) will kick off the tournament at 4 p.m. Friday. Mount Mary will then battle Maranatha Baptist (3-9) Saturday at 10 a.m. and Central (Iowa) (5-6) at 4 p.m.
Soccer Set to Host Sunday Matchup
Mount Mary soccer squad will host a Sunday afternoon showdown against Andrews University at MMU Soccer Field. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. central time.
Mount Mary (0-6 overall) dropped a pair last weekend, falling 8-0 to Grace Christian University Friday and 5-0 at Maranatha Baptist University Saturday. Andrews (0-4) fell 2-0 to Defiance College Sunday. Both MMU and Andrews have scored three goals on the season and have combined to give up 65 goals through their first 10 respective contests.
MMU is 8-6-1 all-time against the Cardinals, but just 1-3-0 in its last four matchups.
