The Mount Mary University Cross Country, Soccer, and Volleyball teams all return to action over the weekend in This Week in Blue Angel Athletics for September 27-October 3.

Cross Country Back in Action at Warrior Invite

The Blue Angel harriers will meander just down the road to Greenfield Park in West Allis for the Warrior Invitational Saturday. The 6-kilometer women's race will begin at noon.

MMU last took to a course in its season opener September at the Ken Weidt Classic on the campus of Concordia University-Wisconsin in Mequon, finishing sixth among six complete teams and 12 overall. Sophomores Jamy McClain (Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame) and Ellie McMeeken (West Bend, Wis./Slinger) turned in the fastest times for Mount Mary, both finishing under the 33-minute mark.

Volleyball Travels to Upper Peninsula for SISU Classic

The MMU volleyball team will head northward for the SISU Classic hosted by Finlandia University. The Blue Angels will take on Finlandia Thursday evening before battling Great Lakes Christian College and the host Lions again on Friday.

Mount Mary (3-13 overall) suffered three sweeping defeats at its "home" MSOE Invitational this past weekend, falling to MSOE, Maranatha Baptist, and Central (Iowa). MMU will look to rebound after a tough go last weekend against its fellow Coast-To-Coast rival, as Finlandia took the first matchup via a five-set thriller at Lawrence earlier this season.

Soccer Welcomes Lawrence for Sunday Matinee

After a cancellation of its upcoming Friday game at Andrews, MMU Soccer will finish up the weekend with a home matchup against Lawrence University Sunday.

Mount Mary (0-7) dropped a home matchup with Andrews last Friday, 5-1. However, the Blue Angels did sample their first lead of the season after a perfectly executed header off an Andrews throw-in from sophomore Ashton Longazel (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) found streaking freshman Micaela Gonzalez (Milwaukee, Wis./Brown Deer) for the game-opening goal.
