This Week in Blue Angel Athletics - November 15, 2021

Basketball continues its feverish start to the 2021-22 season with three games in This Week in Blue Angel Athletics for November 15-21, 2021.

Hoops Hosts Pair of Contests at BC

The MMU basketball team will play three games this week—two of which at home—in another busy slate for the Blue Angels. They welcome Dominican (Ill.) Tuesday before traveling to another NACC foe, Marian (Wis.) Thursday evening. MMU then welcomes Crown (Minn.) for a Saturday afternoon showdown in Milwaukee.

Mount Mary (0-3 overall) hopes to keep making strides with its young roster, despite dropping a pair of lopsided contests over the weekend at the NCU Classic in Minneapolis. The Blue Angels fell to Waldorf (Iowa) Friday, 99-38, before losing to the host Rams Saturday evening, 104-49.

Sophomore Talesa Campbell (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./Boyd Anderson) currently leads MMU with 18 points per game, followed by sophomore Brianna Duke (Milwaukee, Wis./Rufus King)'s 11.3 ppg average. Duke also leads the Blue Angels with 6.7 rebounds per game, with freshman Lisette Rodriguez (Bensenville, Ill./Fenton) adding 5.7 boards.

Dominican (0-2) is seeking its first win of the season, having dropped a pair of contests at the Webster University Tipoff Classic over the weekend. Friday, the Stars fell to the host Gorloks, 91-48, before being edged by Fontbonne Saturday, 60-46. Alisha Markley (Rushville, Ind./Rushville) leads the Stars with 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game through the first two contests.

Marian (0-2) also enters this week looking for its first win, most recently falling 84-38 at Lawrence after getting doubled-up by Dubuque, 82-41, in the season opener last Tuesday. Sierra Strope-Robinson (Green Bay, Wis./De Pere) leads the Sabres with seven points and five rebounds per game, as seven players average at least four points per game.

Crown (1-0) used a big third quarter to knock off St. Scholastica in its season opener last Wednesday, 85-76, and will travel to St. Olaf Tuesday and Alverno Friday for its own three-game week. Dominique Urbana (Indio, Calif./Cathedral City) recorded a whopping 45 points on 16-for-21 shooting to go with six assists against the Saints, claiming UMAC Player of the Week honors.
