Laura Sanders selected as new Mount Mary Cross Country Coach

Milwaukee, WI- The Mount Mary University athletic department has announced the appointment of Laura Sanders as the new leader of the Blue Angel Cross Country Program. The Carthage College graduate will take the reigns of the program immediately.

Laura Sanders brings an impressive skill set to the position, much of which she gained in her time as a standout student and cross country runner and fellow Wisconsin D3 institution, Carthage College. In addition to being part of the cross country and track teams, Sanders served as an athletic department assistant and a student ambassador. The upside of the Blue Angel program impressed Coach Sanders and she brings a great deal of enthusiasm to her new assignment, "I am thrilled to be a part of Mount Mary Athletics. The cross country program has so much potential for growth."

Sanders was a multiple time CCIW (Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) academic all-conference team member while at Carthage. She graduated in May of 2021 with her bachelor's degree in Sports Science and a minor in Spanish. Sanders was a member of the coaching staff of the Germantown youth track and field club for 4 years, and also serves as a Physical Education teacher at All Saints Catholic School in Kenosha.

Coach Sanders believes acclimating herself with the members of the team is a key to starting off on a good foot, "I'm excited to meet the team and look forward to getting to know all of the runners."

Sanders is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Education from Carthage College.
