Blue Angel Featured Athlete: Brianna Ecker

Brianna Ecker, a junior from Stockbridge, Wisconsin, has been a standout in volleyball and softball for the Blue Angels.  She also has filled in for the Mount Mary basketball program and been a consistent servant leader while working various jobs within the MMU athletic department.   Brianna has been an all conference volleyball player for Mount Mary, started every volleyball game this season and has played a key role for the Blue Angel softball team so far this season through 21 games.

Brianna answered some questions this week for the Mount Mary Athletic communication department regarding her time at Mount Mary and some of the highlights of her time at MMU.

Why did you choose Mount Mary?

I chose Mount Mary for the small class sizes.  I came from a very small school that was like a large family and that's what I wanted coming into college. Mount Mary is a very welcoming and diverse community. Also being able to play sports was a very good added benefit in choosing Mount Mary.

What has been the highlight of your time at MMU?

My sports experiences have most definitely been the highlight of my time. Especially moving in with some of my teammates, there is never a dull moment. The endless support that I get from athletics and academics make my time at MMU so rewarding.

What are your plans and goals after graduation?

I don't have a definite plan for after college but I do want to obviously get a job and do some traveling and maybe move out of state for a bit to see the opportunities elsewhere.

Why would you tell a prospective student to come to Mount Mary?

You get amazing support and guidance from everyone on campus and your professors will take time to work one on one with you to make sure you are understanding the course information. It's like a very large family here I! I feel comfortable in my classes that my voice will be heard in a discussion and not shut down.
