MILWAUKEE - It is no April Fool's Day joke—the Mount Mary University softball team finally opened its season in the Midwest Tuesday evening in downtown Milwaukee, playing its first "home" game against Milwaukee School of Engineering.

The Blue Angels were no match for the host Raiders in the Tuesday twinbill, falling in both contests 14-0 and 13-0.

The losses drop Mount Mary to 0-14 on the year.

Offensive firepower proved to be the Blue Angel bugaboo again Tuesday, as they tallied just four total hits across the two-game span.

Recording half of those hits was senior Katie Wolk (Oshkosh, Wis.) who went 2-for-4 at the plate with a single in each game. Wolk, who also got her first collegiate defensive start at catcher in game two, upped her season hits total to seven.

Sophomores Michelle Argenzio (Brookfield, Wis.) and Nicole Weggen (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) also added a hit to their resumes. Weggen's came in game two on a double that bounced off the fence in right-center, while Argenzio earned her first hit of the season on a slapper off the pitcher late in game one.

The return of freshman pitcher Lauren Wiech (Colgate, Wis.) brought some defensive balance back to MMU, and she and junior Katie Edwards (Mackinaw, Ill.) each picked up one losing decision Tuesday.

Defensively, the Angels turned three double-plays on the night, two on come-backers to the pitcher and one more on a laced shot to third baseman Tracy Boutell (Brown Deer, Wis.) in the top of the fifth inning in game two.

The Blue Angels will be back in action Wednesday, traveling to Rockford University for a double-header against the Regents at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
