APPLETON, Wis. – The Mount Mary University softball was underhanded and overmatched Tuesday afternoon, falling to Lawrence University 17-0, 23-0 in two five-inning games.

The Blue Angels accumulated a total of 17 fielding errors in the two-game slate, allowing an irksome 26 unearned runs to cross the plate for Lawrence (9-5).

Mount Mary (2-16) struggled equally at the plate, recording just three total hits on the night.

Junior Katie Edwards (Mackinaw, Ill.) broke up the Vikings' perfect game in the top of the fifth inning with a base hit up the middle. Edwards also added a slicing single up the right field line in the top of the fourth inning of game two, rounding out a 2-for-4 batting average on the day.

Sophomore Shandrieka Richardson (Atlanta, Ga.) continued her hot streak as well, recording Mount Mary's only other hit of the afternoon—a shot slapped to the left side gap in the top of the third inning.

Mount Mary played Tuesday's double-header without the services of senior Katie Wolk (Oshkosh, Wis.) and sophomore Tracy Boutell (Brown Deer, Wis.)—both regular starters on this year's squad.

The Blue Angels will look to regroup Friday as it travels to North Park University for an afternoon double-header at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
