MILWAUKEE – As of Friday May 8th, the Association of Division III Independents announced that Mount Mary University Blue Angel Katie Edwards (Sr./Mackinaw, Ill.) is the Association of Division III Independents Female Student-Athlete of the Month for April.
The senior's great year was capped off with one of her best months in her collegiate career. In April, Edwards went 18-of-38 at the plate, finished with a 1.026 slugging percentage, collected 18 RBIs, and blasted an AD3I leading seven homeruns.
One of her shining moments this season, Edwards went 3-for-4 against Rockford University on April 22nd. Edwards had three RBIs off of her two homeruns. The second homer in the game against Rockford was a two run walk-off homerun, the first walk-off homer of the senior's collegiate career.
Edwards finished the season as the AD3I leader in HR and SLG, and is in the top five in batting average, RBIs, and on-base percentage, and top ten in hits with 35.
