Nester Grabs Award

Nester Grabs Award

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Adrianna Nester (So./Anaheim, Calif.) has just been awarded the Association of Division III Independents softball Player of the Week honors for her play in a jam-packed week of games for the Mount Mary University softball team. The sophomore pitcher/infielder was a key element in the Blue Angels going 4-4 in their last eight games both in the circle and at the plate. (AD3I Article)

Nester began last week leading her team at the dish in game one of their doubleheader against AD3I rival Maranatha Baptist University (1-21). While the sophomore took care of third base duties defensively during the game, she raked in three RBIs as she went 3-of-4 at the plate and scored a run of her own in a 14-4 win for MMU.

In the second game Nester drove in another run as she went 1-of-2 at the plate with a walk and a run scored. While in the circle in that second game, Nester was near perfect. The young hurler struckout seven batters in the 10-0 win over MBU, in addition to taking a perfect game into the fifth inning of the five-inning contest.

The Blue Angels finished the week 4-4 as they grabbed their first wins of the 2017-18 campaign. Nester was able to pitch in half of those contests finishing the week with a 2-2 record in 21.0 innings and 20 strikeouts.

Nester and the Blue Angels return to action Tuesday evening at Watertown, Wis. when they rekindle their season series with the Sabercats. Live stats will be available for both games of the doubleheader on Tue. May 1 at 5:00 pm.
