Harnsberger Grabs Awards

MILWAUKEE – The American Collegiate Athletic Association announced the ACAA Softball Pitcher of the Week today. Hannah Harnsberger (Jr./Hillsboro, Ore.) earned the award this week after completing one of her best games of the season last Sunday.

The Blue Angels recently put an end to a recent losing streak when Harnsberger toed the rubber against Silver Lake College. Harnsberger started the game on the attack and after walking a pair in the first inning, the junior hurler struck out three batters in a row.

Harnsberger's offense gave her an early 6-0 lead after the first inning, and she responded by not allowing the Lakers to collect a hit until the fourth inning. The dribbler up the middle was the only hit of the contest from SLC. Harnsberger was able to close out the game after 5.0 innings in the circle as she collected her first shutout of the season.

Although the shutout was abbreviated, Harnsberger was still able to collect seven strikeouts. The young pitcher is now 3-2 on the season and leads her team in wins.

Harnsberger and the Blue Angels continue their season this week with doubleheaders on Thu. Apr. 18 and Fri. Apr. 19. On Thursday MMU will host Finlandia University at Infinity Fields in Waukesha, Wis., then the Blue Angels will head across town to take on their rival Alverno College on Friday. Live stats will be available for both two-game series this holiday weekend. For more information, visit MtMaryAthletics.com.
