Preview: Softball scheduled to return to action Sunday at Cardinal Stritch

After nearly a full two weeks without a game, the Mount Mary University softball team hopes to finally return to the field, Sunday April 10th, at Cardinal Stritch University.

The Wolves of Cardinal Stritch, members of the NAIA, hold a record of 12-5 so far this season.  The last meeting between Mount Mary and Cardinal Stritch occurred on March, 21,2021.  The Wolves took both ends of the doubleheader in two low scoring games.

The Blue Angels (5-12), have lost 7 of their 12 games by 5 runs or less.  Aislinn Strusz has sparked the Mount Mary offense all season, boasting a batting average of .429 and 18 runs batted in.  She leads the Blue Angels is almost every offensive category.

Brianna Lupa has pitched 60% of the season for the Blue Angels, carrying a most impressive era of 2.97.  Keys for the Blue Angels putting together a win streak seem to be consistent hitting with runners in scoring position, and shoring up the defense to limit the big innings that have plagued Mount Mary in their recent games.

Following Sunday's doubleheader, the Blue Angels schedule really picks up steam with 12 games scheduled between April 13th and 23rd.  The Blue Angels upcoming opponents include, Beloit, Benedictine, Lawrence, Alverno and Maranatha Baptist.
