Strusz and Lupa move up in career record books with stellar seasons

Milwaukee, WI - In a softball season in which the Mount Mary Blue Angels set a new modern era for winning percentage, two players in particular added their names to the Mount Mary career record books as well.

Aislinn Strusz and Brianna Lupa, both of who were named 2nd team all-conference, set multiple single season statistical records, and also now are career leaders in the modern NCAA softball era at Mount Mary.  Strusz, playing her final season for the Blue Angels, set single season records for hits, runs batted in and single season batting average.  Her exemplary performance has now made her the career MMU leader in hits with 100, runs batted in with 74, doubles with 21 and stolen bases with 22.   Strusz, an outfielder from Aurora, Illinois has left a most positive mark on the MMU softball program.

Brianna Lupa, a sophomore from Plano, Illinois, shattered the single season records for pitching wins and strikeouts, the latter which was her own.  Lupa is two wins shy of the all time NCAA MMU wins record at 15.  Her 184 career strikeouts place her as the all time Blue Angel leader and her current career earned run average of 3.72 is currently the lowest of the modern era at Mount Mary.

With Lupa looking to continue as a pitching leader for Mount Mary for the next two seasons, combined with the strong young nucleus returning after the record setting 2022 campaign, the future of Blue Angel softball looks remarkably bright.
