Blue Angels and Lawrence Split

Blue Angels and Lawrence Split

Appleton, WI- The Mount Mary University softball team began their final week of the season on Wednesday with a trip to Lawrence University to take on the Vikings.  MMU played a great game in the opener of the twin bill, defeating Lawrence by a 10-2 score.  Lawrence controlled the Blue Angel offense in game two, taking a 4-1 victory to even the doubleheader on the day.

In game one, Mount Mary played one of their finest games of the season.  Brianna Lupa started the game in the pitching circle and put forth a great performance.  She went the distance for the complete game, allowing only two runs and striking out 6.

The Blue Angel offense came through in big moments and scored runs throughout the game.  Kaylee Baker and Brianna Ecker each had two runs batted in.  Aliana Gutierrez, Katelyn McCallum, and Alexandria Eads each had two hits in the win.

Game two began and Lawrence took a lead that they would not relinquish.  The Vikings defeated MMU 4-1 in game two.  Crystal Peterson knocked in Kaylee Baker for the Blue Angels' only run in game two.

The Blue Angels (10-27) will have one final doubleheader to end the 2024 season.  They will take on the University of Chicago on Saturday, May 4th.  The games will be played at 12 and 2 pm and live coverage will be available on www.mtmaryathletics.com
