NCAA Era Series: Blue Angels lead 1-0.
The Eagles come into this weekend's matchup at 2-2. A team that has only one upperclassman, and 10 underclassmen. The young roster has been responsible for putting up a lot of the Eagles points. Sophomore Madison Laib is averaging 15 points per game in the games registered.
Laib was not present during last season's 77-49 loss to the Blue Angels, but teammates Rachel West and Erin Edmondson were starters on the young team last season. The duo are second and fourth in scoring for the Eagles, and have a full season under their belts.
The Blue Angels are coming off a loss in their season opener against rival Alverno. Returners Shandrieka Richardson (Sr./Atlanta, Ga.) and Becky Onan (So./Grafton, Wis.) stepped up in the loss leading the offense in scoring. Richardson went 2-2 from beyond the arc, and scored 13; the second highest game total since scoring 15 against Illinois Tech last season. Onan finished with 11 and did her best on the glass pulling in four rebounds.
Last season, the Blue Angels win over the Eagles snapped the schools 16 game losing streak. Along with marking some big games for the Blue Angels. One of note was then rookie Becky Onan who scored a season high 25 points and also pitched in eight rebounds and four assists.
