MILWAUKEE – The Rockford University Regents (1-1) come to the Bloechl Center this afternoon after winning their first game of the season against Eureka College (2-1) last Saturday evening. The Regents won the game in overtime by a score of 92-87.

For another consecutive season, senior Mallorie Getzelman leads the team in scoring. Last season, Getzelman averaged 14.9 points per game with 1.4 3-point field goals made per game to lead her Regents. While also leading the Regents in rebounding last year with 5.1, she is already on the top of her team with 6.0 rebounds this season. Already an early season average of 31.5 points per game, Getzelman still uses her speed and agility to create shots that she hits at a 48.8 percent clip this season.

This season the Blue Angels started the season off by making a splash in the school annals. MMU (1-2) defeated Marian University (0-2) in the Blue Angels first win against a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference team in program history. The 75-61 win for MMU included a career high 28 points for junior Becky Onan (Grafton, Wis.).

Most recently, the Blue Angels are coming back from the Lakeland Tip-Off Tournament this last weekend. MMU first lost to host Lakeland (1-3) 84-42, then lost to Dubuque (1-2) in the consolation game 83-40.

On paper, and very early in the season, the Regents have the edge going into the night offensively averaging 76.5 points per game to the Blue Angels 52.3, a +10.5 difference over the Blue Angels 3-point percentage and also average 11.8 more rebounds than MMU.

Statistically the Blue Angels have an upper hand on defense averaging 11.3 steals per game over the Regents 9.0. MMU also averages 2.3 blocks per game, .8 higher than their opponents.
