Blue Angels Bring Home Honors

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Association of Division III Independents released the list of honorees for this year's AD3I All-Association Basketball Teams. Three Mount Mary University Blue Angels were named to the 2017-18 teams. (AD3I Press Release)

Erica Williams (Fr./Bloomington, Ill.) and Rae Grubbs (Covington, Ind.) earned spots on the first team. Senior Becky Onan (Grafton, Wis.) finishes her collegiate career with a second team honor.

Williams led the AD3I in rebounding and set new single-season records for MMU in both offensive and total rebounds. The freshman forward collected a total 226 rebounds in her first season as a Blue Angel while averaging 11.4 points per game. That mark placed the rookie in the AD3I's top ten for points per game, while shooting an association high 50.0 percent from the field.

Rae Grubbs finished her sophomore campaign tying the school's single-season record for 3-point field goals made with 37. That season high included Grubbs setting MMU's new single-game record for 3-point field goals made against Grace Bible with seven 3-pointers. Grubbs continued to elevate her play at the guard position and finished the season averaging 10.8 points per game, placing her at ninth in the association for scoring. The sophomore guard's accuracy at the free throw line was good enough for second in the AD3I in free throw percentage (74.6).

Becky Onan closes out her NCAA career with her third yearly AD3I All-Association honor; Onan earned a yearly first team spot from the Great South Athletic Conference when MMU was championship member in 2015-16. This season, Onan finished in the top ten in every major statistical category per game: points, assists, rebounds, blocks, steals. The senior forward led her team this season with 13.6 points per game, 2.9 assists, 1.9 steals and 2.1 blocks. That block average was first in the AD3I by a margin of .9 blocks per game.
